New Jersey

Last weekend I took Mike and the kids to Haworth, New Jersey to show them where I graduated high school. We spent the day with my best friend from high school at her parents house. It was so nice to be out of the busy city and just to relax by the swimming pool.

Don't worry. Makenzie is just pretending.

Mike and Makenzie fooling around in the pool. Those two are so silly together.

My highschool

My old house- when I lived here it was only one floor. Now it has been remodeled.

Grant's Tomb

Just a few blocks from our apartment is President Grant's Tomb. The building is magnificent and it reminds me of something you would see in Washington D. C. But here it is instead, in the middle of Riverside Park just a few minutes from where we are. I've passed it probable a dozen times now and we finally decided to go in today. Here it is in the background as we walk up to it.

Here is our street. Our building is down on the left about halfway down the block. Up ahead you can see the bridge where the subway crosses. I'm very glad that the subway is so close.

Grand Central Station and the South Seaport Fireworks

I love this picture of Mike and Makenzie. We actually got a picture of her smiling which in itself is nothing short of a miracle. She usually refuses to smile when we tell her to say "cheese".
This picture is when the kids and I met Mike at the Grand Central Station after work one day and ate at Junior's which has great burgers and delicious cheesecakes.

The main concourse of the train station- can you see Tyler and I in the middle of the chaos?

We went on a walk to the United Nations building after we ate dinner. Makenzie wanted to stop and smell the flowers on the way.

Last Saturday night there were fireworks down at the south seaport piers. The Brooklyn Philharmonica Orchestra put on a concert that had fireworks at the finale. They were really good and the kids loved them and loved playing with their glow-in-the-dark toys too.

Beautiful Pictures of New York

I love this picture that Mike took. It was across the street from the United nations building. I like the Chrysler building in the background.

Central Park

I am continuously amazed at the amount of things there are to do in Central Park. We go there a lot to relax and just walk around. It's always so peaceful and beautiful which amazes me especially when I look up and see skyscrapers in the background. Today we walked up to the Bethesda fountain which is very popular.

There are rowboats and gondolas you can rent at central park

Behind me is the famous walkway in Central Park called "the Mall". It's beautiful with its tall trees that line the border of the walkway. It sees to always be full of people and sometimes entertainers too.

At the Dana Discovery Center in Central Park, you can rent fishing poles for the kids for free and fish. Here Tyler caught his first fish.

This is a carnival they have during the summer at the Wollmann rink in Central Park. During winter they have an ice-skating rink here instead.

Parks, Museums and other random pictures

Makenzie loves to dress up as a princess. I got her all dressed up and then she looked at herself in the mirror for ten minutes straight.

I love this picture. What a grumpy face!

Kenzie and Tyler can play so good together sometimes. I love it when Tyler helps her with something or when Makenzie chases Tyler around.

The Hippo park was one of the kids' favorites. It had a whole bunch of hippo statues that the kids could play on and some of them had water coming out of there mouths.

Apparently, Makenzie felt that the hippos needed a bath.

Last week I took the kids with some friends to the Brooklyn's Children Museum. They spent all day here trying all of the exhibits.
